Will My Husband be 1 of the 30,000 Troops?

By • Dec 3rd, 2009 • Category: Pre-Deployment

It is certainly hard to hear the news that the U.S. will be sending 30,000 troops to Afghanistan. I understand the troops already there are spread thin and need the support, but I still don’t want my husband to go.

While he is still currently deployed and I’m sure has no idea if his battalion will get moved up in the schedule, I considerate it a distinct possibility. I realize I shouldn’t worry about something I cannot change or control, but I need to prepare myself mentally that it is a possibility. I find that if I can mentally prepare, the news is a little easier to handle.

Of course I want to ask my husband if he knows anything, but I’ll let it go for now (unless he reads this blog). I’m sure he is focusing on coming home soon and isn’t even giving this as much thought as I am. It is hard to ignore when this headline has been in the news for the past couple of days. I’m sure I’m not the only spouse or family member worrying. I guess it comes with the job of being a Marine Corps wife.

is in the mist of Mike's 6th deployment. This is proving to be the hardest deployment of them all.
