Wish I’d Known About This Sooner…

I found a couple of things today that might have eased the pain of deployment just a little bit…

husband pillow

#1. The Husband Pillow.
I know, I know, this thing has been around forever…. but it certainly takes on new significance for  anyone facing a year of sleeping alone! I love that this one has an actual hand – tell me THAT wouldn’t be creepy if you woke up in the middle of the night and found the faux hand in the wrong place!  :)  I also like that he’s wearing clothes. Usually, husband pillows are not so…. life-like! Now, if they only made one in BDUs….

#2. Operation: Hi Honey!
Paul and I celebrated our second anniversary during the deployment, and we were lucky enough to be together in Australia for R&R on the actual date… but I still think this would have been a great gift! This company let’s deployed military personnel send free artwork to their spouses on their anniversary. It’s a canvas with a personal picture printed on it. How sweet! Find out more here.

(And while we’re discussing anniversaries…. have you arranged for Heroes At Home to send flowers, candy or spa baskets to your sweetie on those special dates while you’re gone? No?! Go to Gift Services and place your order!)

is of the opinion that re-deployment is harder than deployment itself. The year Paul and I spent apart was tough, but nothing could have prepared me for trying to come back together again. Homecoming was full of challenges I never expected - no matter how many books I read!
