Holding Down the Homefront: A Guide for Spouses<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Based on the Army\u2019s Battlemind training for spouses and her own work with military families as a Certified Professional Life Coach, Katie Dyer – National Guard wife and Founder of Heroes At Home, LLC <\/a><\/span>– will lead a course designed to help you recognize your inner strength and resiliency, and show you how to build a network of resources and support.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How will the deployment affect your life and relationships? Do you have the skills you need to survive and thrive during a year without your spouse? Come network with other spouses in the same position and meet a Battle Buddy that can help you get through it. We\u2019ll cover everything from minimizing the stress of deployment on children, to keeping your marriage strong during the separation, to using this year as time for your own personal growth. Each class session includes time for answering questions, brainstorming problems, and sharing struggles and celebrations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Holding Down the Homefront is an 11-week course taught on Wednesday nights from 6-8pm, beginning June 24.<\/span><\/p>\n

All of us know someone who is affected by Oregon\u2019s recent National Guard deployment. But do you know what to say to a friend, neighbor or co-worker who\u2019s loved one has been sent overseas? How do you reach out without upsetting them? How do you show support for our military families, even if you don\u2019t support the deployment? Katie Dyer, military spouse, Certified Professional Life Coach, and Founder of Heroes At Home, LLC <\/a><\/span>, talks about her own experiences of deployment \u2013 the transition from a civilian family to an Army family overnight, the isolation from friends who didn\u2019t know what to say, and the struggle to \u2018do it all\u2019 while her husband was away \u2013 and offers practical ideas for showing your support and offering help in meaningful ways.<\/span><\/p>\n
